ASPECTING PLANETS
In Western astrology we have planets
in the natal chart and in transit
that aspect other planets, which are called oppositions,
squares, trines, and sextiles etc. The opposition
is when a planet is seven houses away from another
planet at virtually the same degree and what occurs
is an exchange of planetary energy upon
each of them. When there is a malefic planet
opposite a benefic planet, this influence
drains the positive qualities from
the benefic planet.
In the Systems Approach,
all planets have an aspect of seven houses away
that in effect is an opposition. In whatever house the planet
is posited in, one counts seven houses away beginning
in the house the planet sits in. For example if
Mars is placed in the sign Aries
and this is the ascendant,
then we count seven houses away from that first
house, arriving at the seventh
house which would be in the sign of Libra.
If any planets are in Libra and within a five degree
range of the planet Mars, then this planet is
aspected by Mars. Whether it be a benefic aspect
or a malefic aspect would have to be determined
by which planets are malefic for Aries ascendant.
The malefic planets for Aries are Mercury,
Rahu, and Ketu.
Therefore the aspect by Mars will be benefic to
that planet aspected.
There are additional aspects that some
of the planets carry besides the seventh house aspect.
These should be remembered,
as it is a very important factor in determining
the natal chart.
